My Current Concept of Spirit - Updated December 17, 2011

Sometimes I am uncomfortable using the word “spirit”, it is an undefined term, in my opinion. By that I mean when you say the word to a group of people almost everyone in the group is likely to have a different idea of what spirit is. There are mostly religious connotations to it and that is not how I interpret it, anymore.

I have had extensive religious training from the 5th grade through high school in Catholic school and twenty some odd years away from the church (and I do mean “odd” years) and another twenty as a practicing Catholic (much better years). Through all that my personal definition of what spirit would be remained very childlike, I simply had no reason to think about it.

My concept of Spirit has remained pretty close to this description of it in my 2009 article. I have, however left the Catholic Church. I may go into the details of that in some later article but it's not within the scope of this one. I do want to stress the process of leaving the church was a natural one. The logical progression of my own personal spiritual development. I am still on the very best of terms with all my former fellow church goers and Clergy.

Basically you are either alive of dead. If you are alive your spirit is with your body and if you are dead your body is gone but your spirit remains. Once your body is gone your spirit goes to one of three places, according to Catholic tradition as I understand it, purgatory, which is a temporary hell that you get out of and then go to Heaven, hell, which is permanent and eternal torment or heaven which is permanent and eternal bliss.

I can imagine in my minds eye all the agnostics and religious doubters out there saying, “Yes! That’s exactly what I mean, you can not possibly believe THAT, I mean, really!” They would be pounding their fists on the table then opening their arms and hands saying, “come on, say it ain’t so…”

I can imagine, at the same time, many religious people of many of the world’s faiths saying, “Yes! That’s exactly what I mean and I will be going to Heaven in the next life because I am faithful and lead my life according to the book.” They would look longingly at the others and opening their arms and hands saying, “Just open the book and read it, you will find what you are looking for and you can go to Heaven too”.

Today is October 14th 2009. I would like to describe here what my current concept of Spirit is. I think of Spirit in vibrational terms now. I think of myself as a multi dimensional being. I am not a body and soul alone on a big planet in a huge universe. What I see of me reflected in the mirror is only the three dimensional fragment of what I really am. There is a higher vibrational me that I can not perceive in the mirror or with any of my three dimensional senses. If I quiet my mind and set my intent I can feel it, it communicates with emotion, I feel it in my gut or more specifically, solar plexus.

I've listened to Bashar, channeled by Darryl Anka, quite a bit over the past two years. There is an interesting concept of spirit contained in many of Bashar's tapes and videos. There is a kind of hierarchy of consciousnesses that combine to create the whole being. You and I are much, much more than what we perceive when we gaze into the shinny glass. The line of communication is in feelings and symbols and synchronicity, not words, and it happens instantly.

This higher vibrational me or “inner being” as I have heard it referred to is connected or “blended” with many others. I think this high vibrational unity is where the concept of Spirit Guides comes from. They are higher vibrational beings existing at a place where unity and individuality are one, and time and probabilities are laid out like so many decks of cards spread across the table of the Universe.

I use a water analogy to describe my concept of vibration. Water below freezing temperatures must be solid. I don’t care where you put it or what tricks you play on it, if the temperature is low enough, water is solid, period. As you raise the temperature of the water there comes a point where it can not be solid any longer. It must be liquid and again if you raise it yet another magnitude, it must be vapor.

Following this analogy and combining it with my current understanding of vibration and Spirit I make this statement. If you are a being and your vibration is low enough you must manifest into three dimensional reality and as such you will have mass and be in linear time. You will be at a vibration where the five senses of the human beings around you will perceive you. In other words you will not be the proverbial “dog whistle” where you are there but can not be perceived by the human beings who occupy the space with you.

I further understand that there are not accidents. High vibrational beings do not just “slip up”, manifest into 3D, look around and say, “Whoa!…I better get some pants on…Dude”.

If you care to believe the words of psychics and channelers, and it is your call, the evidence is mounting at an alarming rate that we have done this to ourselves. We have intentionally manifested into (read, be born into) 3D for a reason. To create; and by it, expand the universe. This article has never been written before. Ever. I am expanding the universe right now…but this article is about Spirit. Perhaps I will expand the universe with an article about expanding the universe at a later date.

O.K., we do not lower our vibration from the “unseen” world by accident. In as much as we are still always connected to our inner self and receive communication, usually in the form of emotion. We do not, usually (disclaimer is ‘usually”) raise our vibration by accident.
